Fragile furniture: protection is its own line
Glass cabinet, marble top, antique wardrobe, unstrung grand: not standard boxes. Firms need sizes, weight if known, and photos of the stair turn. Without that they pad or decline.
How to describe the piece
Height, width, depth, material (glass, stone, veneer), whether it can be dismantled, and whether special blankets or a crate are needed. List piano and grand as piano transport, not as a sofa.

Only if you ask for it. Otherwise firms add blankets, boxes or a crate later, or expect you to supply materials.
