Moving checklist: what must be ready before the truck

Moves rarely fail on a box. They fail on a missing stand, a locked lift or inventory nobody described. The sequence below is operational: access first, then the request, then the day.

Before you request quotes

Both addresses with floor and lift, rough inventory, photos of stair and courtyard, parking and whether a no-parking zone will be applied for. Building management: lift booking, quiet hours, keys. Preferred window and a fallback date.

On moving day

Keep paths clear, one reachable contact at both ends, carry medicines and documents yourself, note meter readings. Report deviations (tighter than described, lift out) immediately, not after unloading.

Short answers

When should I start the request?

As soon as addresses, rough volume and a date window are known. No-parking and lift booking often need more lead time than the truck. Short notice only works with full photos and settled parking.
